Brawl Texture Hacking with Gecko OS- Quick Guide for Custom Textures
For NTSC-US ONLY -Post by: Jose Gallardo
No more wasting DVDs just for texture HaXz0rs! This new method provides a very efficient and highly simplistic way of achieving Texture hacking without the need of ISOs, burning Discs, and download times. Simply create a folder in your SD card specifically for texture files, load the codes through Gecko OS, and you're all set! The following information will help you get started to Texture Hacking:
This is a simple and quick guide to help you get started on Texture Hacking -
1. First and foremost, create a folder in your SD card with a particular tag that will allow real-time loading of Custom textures. To do so, open up - private/wii/app/RSBE - from your SD Card.
2. Now download the archive from the following link (remember to extract the contents from the RAR archive!):
"It contains one texture replacement for each character's main costume and a final smash replacement for PT."
3. Once it has finished downloading, copy the file (should be a folder named - pf - ) to the RSBE folder on your SD Card.
At this point, you have uploaded custom textures [Courtesy of Stack Smash] to your SD card and are now able to use the following codes for the final step in Brawl Texture Hacking. Enable the code(s) with Gecko OS as usual:
File Patch Code v3.5.1: [Phantom Wings]
Dynamic SD Loader: v1.1 [Phantom Wings]
NO LONGER NEEDED
NO LONGER NEEDED
Disable Custom Stages v1.1: [Phantom Wings]
NO LONGER NEEDED, but left the code just in case anyone wants Custom Stages off
Once the game starts after enabling the codes through Gecko OS, start a regular Brawl with the character's default costume (ex: Red Mario). Every time you choose a character, allow about 3-5 seconds (no longer required with the new code updates from 3/16/09) before choosing another, just to be on the safe side to prevent freezing. Once ready, pick any stage, and PRESTO!
If done correctly, you should be playing with Custom Textures on. And if by any chance you want to delve into new textures, download TXS Files that we post in the TXS Brawl Textures page, or go to the Stack Smash site and download some of their Custom TXS and for every new texture, make sure to rename it properly (ex: The Custom Text File for Mario Currently in the pf folder is named FitMario00. Replace that file with the new one, but name the new file exactly the same. If you want to keep both files, replace 00 with an Outfit color. The following links will be of help:
*Big Shoutout to Phantom Wings. Without him, it wouldn't have been possible. After all, he is responsible for the enhanced Texture Uploader.
You can find texture files we made in the TXS Brawl Roster

In addition, you can visit some of the Site Links on the Right. There are many great Texture makers out there!
